Model Comparison Overview

No matter how much data you have, STORServer has an appliance to meet your backup, archive, and disaster recovery needs. Our business continuity appliances support multi-platform network, NAS, and SAN requirements. We currently offer the following appliances:

• Enterprise Series --- For highly populated server and storage datacenter operations
• Model 1 Series --- For small-to-mid-size businesses/departments and “hot-site” facilities

Several models are available in each series. These are described in the tables below. STORServer also offers bundles, made up of different combinations of components and services. See Bundles for more details.

While a single appliance is sufficient for most environments, multiple-appliance solutions, that can be managed from one interface by one operator, are also available.

Enterprise Model Series

Enterprise Series STORServer Business Continuity Appliances are sized for highly populated server and storage datacenter operations with both data recovery and compliance requirements. These comprehensive appliances provide both backup and archive solutions to meet data recovery requirements, and support compliance with HIPPA, DoD, and SOX requirements. Enterprise models use highly reliable SCSI disks with SATA options, include the most reliable tape options, offer multiple CPU choices, and scale at rates that can accommodate a quadrupling of your data.

With a potential starting price of just $3,400, Model 1 appliances use internal SATA disk drives rather than SCSI to keep costs down, but offer the advantage of supporting up to four 400GB drives for use in the cache pool for a potential capacity of 1.1 TB! Due to configuration limitations, Model 1 appliance disks are not upgradeable in the field.

Model 1 appliances are capable of supporting up to two tape drives in the internal library, supporting both on-line restore and off-site disaster recovery simultaneously. Potential storage space can range from 500 GB to over 10 TB, supporting typical user environments ranging from 100GB to over 1TB.

The default settings in a Model 1 backup appliance use 22 days of data retention for deleted files and a 5 percent expected data change rate per day. Compression rates for data vary, depending upon your data, and can potentially increase the capacity of the Model 1 STORServer.

Bundles

Bundles and Upgrade Bundles listed below offer a simple one click way to choose a STORServer. Providing all the hardware, media and installation services required for a complete solution. In addition the standard Bundles include five client CPU licenses.

If you are an existing STORServer customer, choose an Upgrade Bundle. All existing software licenses will transfer over to the new STORServer. Upgrade Services include installation and migration planning.
